New meds

You can probably see from the video (I sure can) in the last post, that Aidan's seizures are really affecting his whole body now. Just since the EEG, I've seen his relaxed, fluid body movements turn very jerky and abrupt. It's shocking to watch him regress in such a short period of time. He wasn't even having seizures until being treated for the last eye infection and getting a flu shot, in November. The only indication then was eye blinking. The EEG was done a month ago. So the speed of regression is pretty staggering.
Since we still have the symptom, (seizures) even though we don't know what the cause is, we have to treat the symptom. He will be starting on Trileptal and Valium this weekend. There are many anti seizure meds, but all of them have undesirable side effects. The trick will be to find the one, and dose, that has the least disruptive side effects for Aidan while giving the most help. Since Aidan has already reacted very negatively to other medications the doctor has had us try, it's likely that difficulty will continue. So unless a miracle happens, the next several months will be filled with medicine trials and nasty side effects.
While all this is going on, Aidan's Service Coordinator (his name is Brian) and I will be lining up therapies, and additional evaluations for possible preschool acceptance. Lots and lots of appts that I can't even keep track of now and will get worse. So if I'm really scatter brained (which I am already) don't get too annoyed with me, please!
