I wish I had a photo for the next memory, but sadly, it's only in our brains.
Around noon, I was taking some trash out before feeding Damon. I'd just stepped out on the back step, and the door quietly slipped shut. The bottom knob has one of those locks on it that allows you to open it without unlocking it, so it remains locked unless you have the good sense to take the precaution of unlocking it. And Lincoln had, just a couple weeks ago, worked on the whole thing so it would shut without slamming it. No coat, no keys, no cell phone. Fortunately I'd just happened to put my shoes on. So I went next door, no one. Across the street, no one. So I walked over to the potato trucking business down the street a bit to ask for a phone. The whole way, praying Jace and Damon would be safe. The women at the desk laughed and admitted they get locked out of their houses regularly... hmmm. Anyway, I called Lincoln and he came to the rescue. Total time I was outside shivering, probably 25mins. He opened the door to Jace standing there with a bottle in one hand, the formula container in the other, and formula all over. He looked up, grinned, and stepped forward to hand the bottle over. I was so grateful he and Damon were safe, but a little overwhelmed with the task of cleaning all that sticky formula up in time for his therapy sessions and Damon's feeding. Frankly, the floor is still sticky. :) What could I do, other than smile back and give him a hug and kiss?
