Sundays are hot in primary classes (sacrament mtg too, for that matter) for our boys. I've always purchased shorts for Aidan to wear to church during the hot months. Some people are irritated by this. But I know what Aidan goes through just to be at church and function every day, I have no intention of not helping him be just a tiny bit more comfortable. It can even be life threatening for him now, with the medication he takes, as it doesn't allow him to sweat. This puts him at a much greater risk for heat stroke than the average child. Since Aidan has such muscle tone problems, buttons on chino shorts are impossible. Which means potty breaks always require help from an adult. To eliminate this issue, I purchased elastic waist chino shorts. But then when they came, they were WAY too big in the waist. Belts for children his size are only available at places like the Gap. Too much money for a stupid belt, and I didn't want to wait another two weeks for it finally show up.
So I am grateful I have a sewing machine, and know how to use it. I made him a blue one to go with his blue shirt, that he's wearing above, but you just can't see the belt because he's sitting.
And a red one for his red shirt. And he was actually excited about wearing them! Yay for such a sweet boy that actually likes his mom's homemade stuff even more than the store bought stuff. Wonder how long that will last? :)
