The last time Aidan or Jace have been to a movie in the theater was when Damon was born.
Jace doesn't really struggle in theaters.
But it's pretty much torture for Aidan.
The heat, (seems fine to the rest of us, but it's not for him) the noise coming from all different directions, the constant movement coming from such a large area with the bigger screen... all the things that make it particularly special in a theater, make it a nightmare for Aidan.
But when I was given the chance to help him go with his DDA's trip to see Cars 2, I thought I could make it work.
When I told him he was terrified and insisted NO!
But I explained I had a plan. His water mister, some ear plugs, a cold drink, my carrying him so he wouldn't have to stand in line, and the promise that if he wasn't okay, I would take him out of there the second he asked.
He said okay and I kept my word. I kept him cool the best I could, and put those silly ear plugs in. He needed them even before the movie started, with all the noise around him of everyone coming in.
At first, he started having a bunch of myoclonic seizures, but thankfully, they didn't snowball and he made it through the movie.
He loved it.
I'm sure he will pay for it the rest of the day, but I kept the stress for him minimized enough, I think he'll pull out of it after resting.
Why don't I have a pic of Jace too? He was sitting with his worker. :( That was the only sad thing about it for me, I'd have loved to sit with him too. But mom's gotta give Jace the space ya know.

Aidan isn't alone with torturous experiences in movie theaters, so I feel for him. I'll email you more about my feelings on that subject. (= I'm so glad he made it through the movie and enjoyed it.
Love,
Elle
