You might wonder why on earth Aidan would need a wheelchair if he's still ambulatory.
Gross motor activities, like walking, are sending Aidan into shock and pre-status. Even with the temps dipping, it still doesn't take much to put Aidan in a dangerous state. It significantly increases his seizures, effects his speech, movement, ability to process information, and many other things needed to function safely.
Because he is overheating, damage to his organs is definitely a concern for us. He's already on meds that cause organ damage, we don't need the very thing they are treating to cause it too.
Aidan hasn't really expressed interest in stickers in quite a while.
But it was suggested as a way to cheaply add his personal touch to the wheelchair, so I found some I knew he'd like. And was surprised at his excitement over them. I also found some fabric I knew I he'd like. Since I wasn't sure what accessories were going to actually come with it, I was hesitant to get too sew happy before we brought it home.
But turned out that what I did sew works great. This is the cover I made for his back cooling pad. There's a cooling pad underneath the seat cover too.
The seat is padded, and there's a flat tray under the chair to attach his mister tank to. The mister tank will be used for longer lasting activities.
It's going to take some serious getting used to for me... it's so different from a stroller.
But really glad he's happy with it!
