Aidan's birthday is this week.
I'm seriously struggling with Aidan turning 7. It just doesn't seem that long ago I held him as this perfect-in-every-way newborn, in such awe and so exhausted at the same time.

Many things that surrounded his entry into this world were difficult ones for me. And then to be a new mom at the same time... I think I will always remember the post delivery nurse that insisted, in her thick German accent, "You need to show him who's boss, who's in charge! That is YOU, NOT him!" :) Or something very similar to that.
Or how he and I literally lived in the bean bag for, like two years, while I dealt with the vomiting and shrieking and insanity that everyone claimed was colic... like I said, I was new, I didn't realize I was being fed bull.
Or coming down with Mastitis the day of his baby blessing, and having to clean up all the mess left from dinner after returning from the ER. Or having to make that desperate move from CO to ID when he wasn't even a year old yet.
Or those amazing, huge eyes being wide open from the very beginning... taking every little thing in.
Or his sweet little non hugs. (He seemed to enjoy being held, but he never clung or hugged back.) Oh how I loved holding him. Or that black bjorn baby carrier I always wore him in. Or his perfectly shaped everything, like his symmetrical head and itty bitty grape toes... Or that baby neck! How I adore my baby necks, the most perfect spot for mommy kisses and breathing in that wonderful baby smell. Or him sleeping (rarely did he sleep) with his arms above his head. Or his precious little baby puffs only heard and felt when you're quiet and still. Or the mysterious wet clothing when his diaper was fine. lol
Aidan still loves trains and cars, all things mechanical. He has to know what anything "runs on." Electricity? Gasoline? Water and coal for steam? Batteries? :)
His favorite movie is still currently Cars 2. He loves to read and learn. He is gravitating towards science right now, so we better get those math skills up to snuff! (Is that even an appropriate phrase anymore? :/ ) His favorite color is blue. He is still very polite and tenderhearted when the seizures haven't taken over his true personality. He loves to talk and socialize- with adults of course. He still puts up with much from Jace. Still adores Damon and joins me regularly with my, "Damon is so supercute!" or "My sweet little shuckums!" chants.
Aidan amazes me everyday.
What he accomplishes in spite of the boulders in front of him. What comes out of his mouth when things click for a second and he's able to say what he really wants to. How incredibly gentle his character is.
Love you so much Little Man!
I'll post pics from his birthday later this weekend. :)
