Homemade wipes

There is no delicate way of putting this.
Because our boys have GI issues and are on meds for it, we use an unreal amount of tush wipes and disinfectant wipes for cleaning it up every month.  It was getting more and more difficult to find wipes they weren't allergic to, and then there was the expense... G O O D  G R I E F!
So a while ago, I started making my own.  Since I'm to the point with it where I've worked out our perfect system for it, I thought I'd share. :)

Turns out, the Thrive brand #10 cans from our food storage work the best as a container.  They don't rust, and an XL paper towel roll cut in half fits perfectly.  If using the cans that aren't gold, you'll want to line it with a plastic bread bag.
I use my electric bread slicer to cut them in half, pull the cardboard tube out, and lift the first center towel up for the starter.  The best way to cut the roll with the electric slicer, is to use a rocking motion all the way around until you get to the tube, and then go straight through.
I have a lid on the bottom to keep our shelf from getting metal rubbing marks on it.
Some day I will get them all decorated. ;)  I will use something like contact paper, paint, or cloth I can pull off and wash.  I wouldn't want the need of replacing paper often from wet finger prints.

There are hundreds of recipes for wipes online.  They all have three basic ingredients: the water, a gentle soap, and moisturizing oil.  I found that for this particular size (you know, the big oversized rolls of PT) 2 cups water moistens it all well, without there being excess liquid.
So my recipe for tush wipes is:
2 cups hot water
1 Tbs gentle cleanser like kids bodywash or liquid castile soap
2 Tbs oil like sweet almond or jojoba
(Any will work here, you could even use baby oil.  Just use what works for your skin and have on hand.)
Mix it up good and immediately pour it in evenly.  If you wait, the oil and water will separate and need to be mixed again.

The suds will leave as it's cooling.  Leave the lid cracked open until the solution cools to prevent extra condensation accumulating.

For disinfectant wipes to wipe up the ick from under the toilet seat:
2 cups super hot white vinegar (yes, super hot- it needs to be to dissolve the borax well)
1/2 cup Borax

These are wonderful and make keeping the toilet clean much less difficult when you've got GI meds going on in the household.  They've also come in major handy with potty training. We use them with every single toilet mess, getting it cleaned up before it dries.
