It's no news that our boys really struggle to get any decent sleep.
Aidan in particular has expressed that he's experiencing seizure activity that is frightening to him. I can personally understand. I fought the idea of a dog for a very long time, but the feeling we should kept coming back, stronger and more intense. So I researched, put in a deposit, and started asking for help to get a Bolognese puppy for him. I also invested in training for training a service dog, because ultimately, that's what our goal is. We just needed the control of making sure Aidan really wouldn't be allergic, and that he would meet Aidan's temperament and size needs. But most importantly, we needed the help of comfort from this puppy now, not a 1yr or more from now.
I had Aidan look through some puppy names that had meaning behind them. He chose Nehemiah. (Comforter) But when we he was having a lot of seizures, he couldn't say the name (got all jumbled and came out wrong) so I knew we'd have to come up with another one. It was down to the wire, with only a week left, when we watched Rise of the Guardians. Sandy. Perfect.
The morning of the trip to pick him up, Aidan came running out of his room announcing to his brothers, "I'm getting my puppy today!!"
I knew right away, he was exactly what we'd hoped for.
I knew right away, he was exactly what we'd hoped for.
Totally sweet and calm.
So happy to be home and able to hold him again.
I got a haircut in anticipation of starting medication that causes hair loss.
He gets along with Sunny great.
He also has quite a calming affect on the boys.
Training has been intense and really not fun at all for me. I'm sleep deprived both because of working with Sandy, but also because of an upcoming EEG.
But Sandy is doing really really well with the training.
And already helping Aidan.
After I shaved more hair from his face and gave him a bath.
Incredibly grateful for those willing to help us do this for him!!
