What...

What on earth are they putting into that chili???
Since I'm on this low carb, high protein diet for the rest of the pregnancy, it's hard finding things I can eat without shooting my blood sugar up. Something that works (still with insulin though) is Wendy's chili and either side Caesar salad or potato. But even on their "value menu" it gets expensive if it's done more than the occasional trip. I used to make my own, but I'm not so patient now that I have two boys. But I did buy some potatoes from the market. Grandma Weber then suggested canned Nalley Sweet Onion Chili. I remembered Grandpa Weber stocking up on it when he came for a visit, so I thought, why not give it a try? I fixed my potato, which the boys were already jealous of (they love potatoes) and demanding before I got the chili warmed. Then something really weird happened. Between the two of them insisting on "more chili, mommy!!!" (Of course that was Aidan, but I could tell Jacen would have been saying it if he could, instead he screamed.) They ate over half the can. I was left with hardly anything. I couldn't keep up with their demands for more, and ended up just saying, "no more, Mom needs some!" It just tastes like normal chili to me... but the only other food they've reacted that way to when offered was chocolate. So this new development either proves there is something in the DNA from Grandpa and Grandma Weber that makes them predisposed to Nalley Sweet Onion chili and chocolate, or there's something addictive in both. ;)
