As I walked out the primary president gave me a look like, "we'll see how this goes!"
At first I thought I was the only mom with a child, of about 12, that wasn't just going and adjusting to the change easily. Then I found that several had the same issues, because other moms ended up in Sharing Time too! I guess their kids had delayed reactions to the whole thing. Lots of crying, demanding "no!" and a few tantrums. So Aidan's quietly insisting I hold him and stay with him turned out to be quite smooth compared to others.
The second he saw me after it was all over, his first words were, "fries and Mellow Yellow, please." I guess he was hungry without a snack! Then when he was strapped into his buster seat in the car he announced, "that was fun to go to church." So I guess Becca Wilson is an okay Sunbeam teacher. ;)
Today was also my first attempt at homemade Pulled Pork. It's our favorite at Bubba's. I purchased a quart of their BBQ sauce, and some pork "butt" (it's just roast, don't know why they call it butt, but whatever) from the local butcher. You can boil it until the meat falls apart, if you will be there to watch it. Since we went to church, I put it in the slow cooker, on high, with water. I'd been told cooking it with a can of Root Beer was supposed to make it taste better. So I threw the RB in there too. Turns out it makes it sweet. (You are probably thinking, well duh Rachel. But I thought it might be for some other reason... I was wrong.) Which is okay, but we won't bother next time. Just water is great. Then I drained it and tossed it in some BBQ sauce. Served it with baked potatoes and salad. Anyway, it's suuuuppppper easy, and the boys and I really like it. So it's a winner.
