Shriner's Hospital

In the waiting room.
My phone camera doesn't do well with movement. Sorry. With my boys, I always use the sport mode on the camera. No modes on the phone.

In the patient room. Look at those darling legs! Looking at him stand, now, you would never guess he has a problem walking.

On the way home. We were all exhausted and just wanted to be home and get some sleep!!!
We left at 2:30am, to be there in time for the 7:30am appt. There was a storm, but Malad Pass was just wet, so we ended up there in time to get some breakfast at McDonald's first. Thank goodness SL roads aren't very confusing, because the map they gave us was seriously lacking. Even though Lincoln drove past the parking lot entrance 3 times (I can't really blame him, he was driving on 3 hours sleep) we eventually made it inside. :) Just imagine a huge suburban with a large car trailer hooked to the back, turning around three times in a nice neighborhood on a steep hill, trying to get to a small hospital entrance. If anyone was watching, they'd have been entertained, I'm sure.
They did an x-ray to compare with his old one. A resident doctor came in to ask us everything first. I got the typical only partial listening from her. I had to repeat, no kidding, 4 times, "It's not that his past bowed legs worried me. It's that the doctor denied it, when they clearly were, that proved to me he didn't really look at him, and that bothered me!" Grrrr. Anyway, his x-rays looked great. His bones are straightening on their own. No more bowed legs. No more turned in femur.
BUT, they can't deny his walk is down right frightening, and he can't really run. After the real doctor watched Jacen do his walking and sort-of run, he said that he believes Jacen's problem is neurological... that his brain is not sending the correct messages to his muscles.
We are going back on the 27th for Jacen to see one of their neurologists.
When we were done, we went to Steve's workplace to nap for a little bit. It's right next to the railroad tracks, and we had a perfect view of train after train crossing the street and helicopters and planes taking off from the base, for the boys to watch.
Then we went to lunch with Steve. (my brother) It was nice to just spend some relaxed time with him. We miss him. Don't get to see him very often, even though he lives in Bountiful. A friend of his made him a beautiful cane that helps him with his knees, and he looks really good.
Then we went to Wynn's (Lincoln's brother) to pick up the Honda Wynn hates. Long story (poor Wynn!) short, it doesn't work and no mechanic he's taken it to in SL seems to know how to fix it. So Lincoln is taking it on. I have to admit, no one in CO could figure out what was wrong with my Honda, and Lincoln fixed it himself. :) So there is still hope.
(As a goofy little side note here... I watched Lincoln and Wynn walking in his driveway and had to giggle. They had the same walk! It's not like it's a weird walk, it's just that they have the same stance and mannerisms when they do. It just cracked me up. I don't walk anything like my sister. She is very pretty and well, sort-of dainty, like an expensive porcelain doll. I on the other hand am, well... we'll just say, sturdy. :)
On our way home, the boys really needed some time out of the car. Jacen had been saying, "ooooooooeeeeee," non-stop for an hour. While Aidan looked like he was going to go crazy if he heard it much longer. And we were hungry for something other than salt lick sunflower seeds and caffeinated soda. So I had Lincoln take the Chubbuck exit and we when to Johnny-B-Goods. The boys loved it. No complaints the rest of the way home.
