As I mentioned before, Jace has caused major safety concerns, yet again, from his obsession with climbing, instability, and no fear. After much thought and finances considered, these are the two latest solutions (hopefully!!!) to the problem. 1st issue: Jace kept wedging himself between the sofa and window, and then would slam his back into the window over and over while grinning his eyes nearly closed. So we'd moved the sofa, but it doesn't matter what furniture we have there, (something has to be there because of space) he makes it dangerous at the window. So we basically wedged a long piece of MDF in there. When we move, I'm not quite sure how we will remove it, but we'll deal with that when it comes. :)

2nd issue: Jace kept climbing up on top of the bookshelf here. So we put in a bench that makes climbing up on his own impossible. It's not totally finished, I'm going to use that back for a flannel board.
When we move, the bench can be slid right off.
(I gave up keeping the books neat in there, a long time ago. Neither boy cooperates.)

Here's the front. Complete with a nook for their shoes and a padded bottom for their tushes. Total cost for the adventure, $53 in supplies and a weekend of two idiots making mistake after mistake. But we got it done and the boys love their new padded bench, and don't mind the window fence, in spite of the imperfections. Thank goodness they are too young (and I'm too pregnant) to care that Daddy doesn't know how to use a handheld router yet. By the time any of us will care, they'll be gone anyway.
