Trip to Lowes

The marks on Aidan's face are from wearing the safety goggles. He made his own paddle boat. He really wasn't as wired as he looks in this photo, it's just the annoying delayed shot on my phone and no sport mode. He'd just said, "smile!"
I made Jace's while he watched.

We went to Lowes in the first place to get some lumber and hardware for yet more safety "solutions" for Jacen's climbing obsession. I know it sounds crazy, but it is a huge problem, particularly because he is so unstable. I hate trips to the ER and head injuries, so I'd rather make Lincoln build stuff. No matter what we do, we can't get him to stop climbing up the bookshelf next to the door. In all fairness, we (me especially, because of my bad back) sit them both on top of it for putting on socks and shoes before leaving the house. So, the logical solution was to create a bench with a back, facing the entry, so that yours truly can't climb on top and has to be lifted up there. We are also having issues with the big window, that moving furniture has not completely solved. So we are opting for another fix using wood. When it's all done, you'll inevitably see it in the photos.

But, for the explanation of the paddle boats... as Lincoln was having them cut the enormous piece of MDF down into the smaller pieces, I took the boys to the free class (didn't plan it that way, so was grateful it just so happened) on "building" a paddle boat. Too darling!
