Damon Elias

5 lbs 15 oz, 18 1/2"

I went in on Saturday for a routine biophysical profile ultrasound. While he scored the typical 8 out of 8, the sonographer noticed fluid around his heart, liver, and abdominal wall. Which, though not something they look for in biophysicals, immediately caused a call to the doctor and admission to the hospital. Turned out the doctor on call for mine, while away for a medical conference, was none other than the obgyn I had for Clayton's pregnancy. That's one way for Heavenly Father to force me to get over the anger. Anyway, he felt very strongly that we needed to deliver as soon as possible. Because I'd taken my Lovenox shot that morning, it had to be delayed until the following morning. So they monitored Damon all day and night, then induced me first thing Sunday.
So they considered him a preemie, observed him in NICU for several hours before releasing him to the term nursery, and they kept us there for two extra days to make sure he was okay. They were also concerned about me because the anesthesiologist thought he'd punctured my spinal fluid membrane, which would cause a spinal headache. I'm fine though.
And other than a crooked nose from being in the birth canal so long, Damon seems fine too.
I'm so relieved words can't even remotely come close to expressing it.
Aidan made the cutest duck fleece blanket for his new little brother.
And Jacen goes in Wednesday for surgery to have his tonsils and adenoids removed. The results from the sleep test at Primary Childrens showed severe sleep apnea. The EEG equipment malfunctioned and didn't get the EEG results, but at least we know one thing and can resolve it quickly. We'll figure out the seizures later.
Thanks to you all. We love you.

Congratulations! Damon is precious! I hope the adjustment to life with him is going well -- it's tricky with 3 kids! We're so grateful that everything's gone well for you both with his birth!

Wow! Congratulations! I'm so happy that everything okay, and that little Damon is here safe and sound. You have been through so much.... you are a trooper. Congrats again, and take care of yourself. ;) We know about tonsils and adenoids! All 3 of mine have been through that! Hopefully Jacen will feel much better after he gets them out. Lots of love,
Steph
