Sparklers are evil

This year Jace apparently decided the sparkler was so cool he had to hold it.  Waited until his dad was distracted (I'm inserting this to help soften my frustration with his daddy, and it is actually pretty likely) and grabbed a just done sparkling stick.  This resulted in 3rd degree burns on his fingers.  I wanted to take him in that night (Sunday) but his dad talked me out of it.  I have several quotes I could use to help you understand my frustration, but I will refrain.
So when I opened my gentle wrapping the next morning and saw a horribly disfigured hand, swollen, and many more blisters, I called the doctor to make an appt.  He looked at it for literally a few seconds and said, "I'm sending you to the burn unit at the hospital."  Now, to a mom who simply has summer fun plans, that may not sound so earth shattering.  To me, it rocked my world. I still had to pick Aidan up from therapy, and fill the prescription for burn cream, and feed Damon, and then a gazillion other appts the rest of the week already... how to fit more...

So I filled the prescription, picked up Aidan, fed Damon, changed diapers, and called the burn unit.  Appt made during a time I should have a sitter.  Sitter doesn't show up and doesn't answer my texts.  So I drag them all there, by myself, filled out paperwork with a million interruptions and listened to screaming because this little man wanted out of the stroller, etc.  (Like I always do.)  Three hours later I'm told I've got to bring him back Friday and then again Monday, Wednesday, Friday etc. until it's healed.  And that after that he will need physical therapy to stretch his fingers back out from the natural pulling in that happens when healing so close to joints like that.  Lovely.  Thank goodness it was only a sparkler!

At least it's healing fast.  This looks WAY better than it did Monday.  This was taken Wednesday at the first appt.
So I will never purchase sparklers again.  Period.  I hate them.  Forever and ever.:)
