Heat stroke and burns

This has been quite the week for us. (Sorry about the finger in the shot.) Aidan started to regress big time, and everyone kept telling me his medicine obviously wasn't working.  Though I knew it was certainly possible, the feeling I kept getting was that it was related to the heat, and his other medication that causes super sensitivity to heat stroke.  We learned just how super sensitive.  His communication, that had improved so much with the addition of Banzel, suddenly deteriorated to the point of him being incoherent. And a rash showed up.  I got him to admit he had a headache and lower back pain.  All this, just as I had increased his dose again.  But in the back of my mind I kept thinking about his Zonisamide and the major heat we've had.  Because of this heat, I'd reminded the DT everyday to make sure he drank plenty of water the whole time there.  In spite of being told to reduce his dose, I didn't, and checked on him repeatedly that night.  He was sleeping soundly.  Banzel is working.  His speech was better in the morning.  Good, continued giving him all his medicine and told his DT to not let him be in the heat AT ALL.  Picked him up and he was doing great again. Yay!  Then it hit me, he's at double the dose of Zonisamide as he was last summer.  That would account for just keeping him hydrated being enough last year but not this year.  No more being out in the heat, period.  So today, he's doing so good he actually said he wants to go swimming!  They took him.  I'm still stunned.  He was terrified of the pool last summer.  Definite clue his seizures have significantly reduced if he's willing to get in the water.  I'm a basket-case worried about him, but yay Aidan!!!

Waiting for the numbing stuff to take, this morning.  He's saying, "Oh no, ouwwee, sorry, you okay?" as he whacks his own head on purpose.  Goofball.

I can't figure out how Damon can't crawl or stand, but he can twirl a noise maker like a pro.  Silly boy!

This is the photo of the improved, but skin pulled off burns.  It already looks a little better than this.  It's healing lightening fast.  Thank goodness for mercy and blessings.

So very glad that things are improving for you. Wonderful that you were able to work out the medicine and figure out that the heat was the problem instead. Let us know next time you want a playdate. Sean actually saw the blog and pics this time and commented how cute everyone is looking ;) Love You!
