Looking back, with all the disgusting blowouts and horrible rashes I'd had to clean up and care for with disposable diapers, it's no wonder I switched.
Several months later, I don't regret the decision one bit. Both issues were eliminated until an allergic reaction that took a while to get Jace's skin back in balance from... and then they were again eliminated.
I have, however, found by trial and error, some important lessons regarding cloth diapering.
#1 Charlie's Soap: my favorite and turns out one of the least expensive detergents for cloth diapers.
#2 RLR: laundry treatment for "stripping" diapers of built up minerals typical in hard water areas is a must if you don't want your diapers to stink after about 3mos use.
#3 Wet bags: I needed several, not just one.
#4 Rumparooz: Jace's ultra sensitive tush required their "hypoallergenic" liner, so though I found a love of the BumGenius and FuzziBunz brand diapers, I had to stick with Rumparooz for Jace. (Jace also happens to be allergic to many detergents recommended.)
#5 TinyTush: became my favorite nighttime diaper... made of super absorbent, super soft, stretchy hemp.

#6 Not necessary: no need for baking soda or sweet smelling powder to sprinkle in the diaper bag or pail... they do pretty darn good keeping the stink in just zipping/closing them up.
After using disposable again for the trip to AZ, my love for cloth is reaffirmed. After 5 days in disposables Jace had a horridly painful burn/rash again. One night and day of cloth, it's gone and he's back to normal.
