1st day of 1st Grade

Made some big changes to this year's curriculum for Aidan.
It worked! :)
I loved the IDVA program, it was a great transition to homeschooling for us.
The entire process scared me, so having the whole public school but online was the obvious choice.
But through the year, I was finding that I had to ditch their curriculum for alternatives to get him through it.
And that's exactly how it felt, for both of us- get him through it.
As his seizure activity level was at a high again, (still is) we barely made the deadline for passing on to 1st grade.
So suddenly when we reached that goal, I felt like I should make a big shift.  And acted right away.
I pulled him from IDVA and started making decisions on what parts of different curriculum resources we'd use... and then made a schedule with lots and lots of breaks in between.  It's in short little 15min segments with sensory breaks, as well as switching from computer work, to paperwork, to hands on.
Wow.  I have a relaxed, happy Little Man.
Now both of us are excited about school.
The way it should be. :D

That's great news! You're a good teacher and he's an excellent student, so you both can look forward to a successful year. (= Thanks for posting.
Love to everyone,
