We have to repeat the boys' medications, doses, and reasons for being on them countless times a month. It gets annoying, particularly when it's often charted incorrectly at places like the ER (uh, that would be one of the most important places to have it correct!!) So this is what I've resorted to doing. Printing up business cards with the info on it, along with their name at the top. When we are asked, we just pull this out and hand it over. Particularly helpful when it's a high stress situation... which is really often. Soon, I will be printing their allergies on the backs too.
The pics in their carseats were while waiting for daddy on errand day.
And the one of Damon at the window was the day before. We have a praying mantis as our closest neighbor. He lives at our front door. I put Jace's bear in the window to "wait" for Jace to return from his dda. The praying mantis crawled over and stayed in front of the bear until he was retrieved. :)
I realized I never updated the blog regarding Jace's possible mini strokes. So here goes.
His MRI was normal. As usual, we have that frustrating mixed blessing. Grateful there's not enough damage to show on an MRI, but we still have no concrete answers. He does have one of my blood clotting disorders. But they only tested for mine. There could be others. One of the tests that would have clued them in on the strokes was goofed up at the lab. It would have swayed the drs one way or another on deciding which cause we are dealing with. Instead of just retesting during the follow up, the hematologist suggested we could test him when he's already getting poked again for another test. In the meantime we treat him as if he'd had mini-strokes, with extra Vit B Complex and Folic Acid. When that new test is done, if it's still high, then we will have to put him on the Lovenox shots. I opted for this offer, instead of taking the blood again right away. Particularly because the treatment and follow up would be the same regardless. He says he'd be totally shocked if it came to needing the shots, because in all his years practicing, he hasn't had to put a child as young as Jace on a blood thinner- the Vit Bs and Folic Acid has always done the trick.
He added that I should be on it too. ;)
Oh, and I probably should add, there is a good reason for not wanting to put a young child on blood thinner. With all the activity, they can have huge bleeding problems. Seeing as Jace comes home injured in some way at least weekly, he's especially at risk for bad complications of a blood thinner. :/
