On Wheels Learning Bus
I have previously expressed my concern that I have everything to do preschool with Aidan, but am not actually doing it. I am not a fan of regular preschool, at least what I've seen in the past in our area.I found out about this free preschool provided "on wheels" once a week. After looking into it, I decided we'd give it a try. The mothers don't just drop their child off (an aspect of regular preschool that really bugs me) but are expected to stay and participate in the whole process. The groups are kept small, limited to 5 children per 1 1/2 hour sessions. And I can bring Jacen too. Today was the first day, so we checked it out.
I think Aidan will really like it, and I'm happy with the environment. He went right in and didn't really hold back, but didn't listen to the teacher very well either! :) He also fell back into his whining instead of speaking his wishes and frustrations, like the big boy he is. I've been working on this with him, but in new situations it's not surprising he would go back to it. He did snap out of it quickly though.
Which brings me back to the whole reevaluation and making changes I posted about earlier...
Aidan has been much calmer and happier. We aren't even doing all of it consistently yet, and I see a wonderful improvement. He's only had (knock on wood!) one meltdown since, and we defused it immediately. So I guess it wasn't really a meltdown! Ya! He's even been much more patient with Jacen. And a huge shocker to me here... he was even extremely patient with his cousin last night. Micheal is the same age (and therefore mentality) as Jacen, but twice as big and insistent. :) Instead of pushing him over, or screaming at him, or running to me boobing, he just walked away! Way to go Aidan!!!
