Jace and behavior charts

Jace turns 5 this week.
And we will probably be celebrating it in stages this year.

He is still off from the whole MRI thing, though doing much better.  It was difficult to sort things out last night in the haze of our sleep deprivation.  It started with Damon's fever spiking to 106.5.  It took quite the effort with meds and ice packs and ice cold drinks to get it down.  Then it went back up less than the time we could safely give him another dose.  Suddenly I heard a loud bang on the wall, and immediately thought it was a seizure.  When they have big myoclonics, something always hits the wall.  It's not a tossing and turning or sleep apnea thing, it's a body jolt that can be big enough to lift them off the bed.  I checked Aidan first.  He was sound asleep.  Got to Jace's room and barely stirred.  I asked and he had no idea what I was talking about.  He then mentioned his stomach, which he often gets confused with intestines so I asked if he needed to use the bathroom.  He said no.  I turned on his turtle light and whispered love to him and left.  Few minutes later I heard his daddy exclaiming he'd puked ALL over his bed and himself.  He hadn't even consumed half that.  But sure enough.  It was just like the night of the EEG that he puked all over his entire bed with maybe two shots.  Just like that time, there wasn't really food, and it wasn't what he'd drunk either.  He wasn't sick, though I'd been afraid of that- it's always a fear.  After I had sleep I was able to piece it all together.  He most likely vomited as an effect of a seizure.  Aidan does all the time when he's not on enough medication to prevent it.

This was earlier Saturday evening when Jace was trying to comfort Damon.

So since this week is insane for appts, and they may end up cancelled if I can't get the fever to stop spiking... I will just do what I can when I can of his b-day.

I don't remember if I posted about this or not, and I'm not really in the mood to go back looking. :)  So if this is a repeat, sorry!
I've been told by those who certainly would know (the neuropsychologist and the neuro, as well as their therapists) that with Jace's executive dysfunction, consequence based intervention only increases his bad behavior.  I've always gravitated towards incentives.  And it works well with Aidan because he's a people pleaser and enjoys the routine of earning a reward.  But Jace really didn't understand the whole concept for quite a while.  And then we moved.  And everything was in chaos.  Much still is, but I wanted the incentives back in force.  So as soon as I could, I used these cute little charts from freeprintablebehaviorcharts, spray painted cheap ugly frames, took the glass out, and put in the fresh one each week.  At first I just used check marks with a pen, but this was much more colorful and fun for the boys.  I even already have Damon on it.  The first 3 items are behaviors, and the 4th refers to daily chores.  This has been really good for them.  Jace honestly doesn't earn his treasure box pick as often as Aidan.  But he's doing better than he was at first. ;)
Wish I could say I had their visual schedule done.  I'm really excited about it!
